Apple A and M Series Chip Revenue Grows 54% in Q1 2021, According to Strategy Analytics

BOSTON–(COMMERCIAL THREAD) –According to Strategy Analytics’ Handset Component Technologies (HCT) service report, Apple’s A and M Series chip shipments and internal revenue saw solid double-digit unit and revenue growth in the first quarter of 2021.

According to Strategy Analytics research report “Apple A-Series and M-Series Apps Processor Tracker Q1 2021: Apple Silicon M1 Drives Revenue Surge”, Apple’s Sales of A and M series application processors jumped 54% to $ 2 billion in the first quarter of 2021. Strategy Analytics estimates that Apple shipped $ 51.0 billion in points of access to series A and M until the end of the first quarter of 2021.

Sravan Kundojjala, author of the report and associate director of Handset Component Technologies at Strategy Analytics, commented: “Apple believes in controlling the main technologies used in its devices. True to this, the company designs its semiconductor components, including application processors, 5G base bands (Intel acquisition), GPUs, flash memory controllers, power management ICs, Bluetooth LE integrated circuits, fingerprint sensors and depth sensors. Apple is likely to incorporate 5G modem technology into its A-series processors in the future. Since the first introduction of the A-series processor in 2010, Apple has shipped more than 2.8 billion A-series access points in total by the end of the first quarter of 2021. iPhone, iPad and Mac devices Apple are offering significant scale to its internal semiconductor investments. Apple beat the semiconductor industry in the market with the first 64-bit Arms mobile processor and has become the main customer of TSMC in advanced semiconductor processing technologies such as 7nm and 5nm. ”

Mr. Kundojjala continued: “iPhone continued to account for the majority of Apple’s processor revenue and accounted for 64% of Apple’s total processor revenue in the first quarter of 2021. Apple Silicon M1 Arm-based processor, used in Macs and iPads, replaced Intel Basic microprocessors and the wars in mobile computing have revived. We estimate that the Apple Silicon M1 processor represented more than 13% of Apple’s total processor revenue in the first quarter of 2021. ”
