Business community to make IFC operational – Pakistan


PESHAWAR: The business community has called on the provincial government to play its rightful role in the proper implementation of the Investment Facilitation Center (IFC) / web portal project, which is being set up in the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI).

This was the heart of the meeting between the UNDP delegation led by its national technical specialist Abdul Haseeb and Hasnain Khurshid Ahmad, at a meeting here in the House of the House, chaired by President SCCI.

The traders stressed that the cooperation of the provincial government is vital to make the IFC / web portal a successful project, which was jointly launched by the Chamber and Smeda with the financial assistance of the UNDP in the Chamber of the Chamber.

The participants urged the relevant provincial departments to take serious steps towards the full operationalization of the IFC / Web portal, a project intended to attract investment to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, especially to solve the problems of the business community in the context of a one-stop-shop.

SCCI Senior Vice President Imran Khan Mohmand, Former President Sherbaz Bilour, UNDP Business Development Specialist Salman Ahmad Khan and Monitoring and Evaluation Officer Faisal Israr and others were in attendance.

The meeting agreed to hold meetings with Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan, Additional Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah as well as relevant government officials to address the issues that were hampering the successful operationalization of the web / IFC portal.

“The session thoroughly reviewed the setbacks and issues on the way to a better functioning of the IFC / Web portal project and offered a number of suggestions to resolve them amicably.

The president of the CSIC told the meeting that despite the official launch of the Internet / IFC portal project, the ministries show a lack of interest and a lack of seriousness in taking such an important initiative, which only aims to attract investment and solve the problems of the business community in KP, a success.

“We are ready to cooperate at all levels to better conduct and make this project functional, but it is essential to take measures at government level to this end”,

He congratulated the businessmen for their job offer and their central role in the economic development of the province.

Hasnain Khurshid urged UNDP to provide financial assistance for the development of small and medium-sized enterprises and small-scale manufacturing units, which have suffered from restrictions linked to the novel coronavirus pandemic.

In addition, he suggested launching a special vocational training program for industrial workers.

On this occasion, the representative of the UNDP, Abdul Haseeb, informed the organization of interventions in favor of economic growth in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in particular the newly merged districts (NMD}, indicating that the UNDP planned to launch a project special aimed at providing training in different skills to overcome unemployment problems.
